Obituary of Gertraud Lund

Gertraud "Gertie" Lund, 83, of Harris passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at her home. Gertraud Elfriede Helene Lund, nee Otto, was born on August 10, 1929 in Rugenwalde, Pommern, Germany as the second daughter of Paul and Elfriede Otto nee Mielke. She had two brothers; Helmut and Siegfried Otto and one sister Annie Jaiser nee Otto. All are gone to be with the Lord. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended the elementary school Rugenwalde, Germany. Due to the World War II she could not learn her profession as a clerk. She lived under the Polish government until 1950 and then came to what was called West Germany and worked as a maid. In 1959 she met her husband James S. Lund. He was a soldier and stationed in Fulda, Germany. In 1960 they were married on the 31st of August in Fulda, Germany. Jim went to the Lord on the 6th of November 2008. She came to the USA in 1961 and became a citizen in 1968. They lived on their farm for 23 years. They sold the farm and bought a house in rural Harris, Fish Lake Township, Chisago County where she still lived. She became a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rush Point in 1981 and was a member for 30 years. She was a member of the LCW, the Miriam Circle and the Good Cheer person. She loved children and supported the Sunday school. She enjoyed flowers, traveling, shopping and dogs. She would like to take the opportunity to thank my "adopted children" Vikki and Tim and family for the love and tremendous support in good and bad days. Vikki was there for me in my darkest hours and I had no words for her then. "Thank you my Vikki". Also I thank my Jackie and Paul Lund. Jackie knew me and she felt so sorry. Well Jackie, I am going to the Lord. There are no more tears. Also thank you so much Ron Fleischhacker, Kathy and Jim Cade for your love and friendship, Don't forget me. I wish you all a happy long life. The Lord bless you richly. Survived by my "little man Tiny", adopted children, Tim and Vikki Donnay and family, Paul and Jackie Lund, three sisters in law, Jackie Lund, Hanndore Otto, Lois Eaves, 24 nephews and nieces, 1 brother-in-law, Paul Lund and friends. Gertie is preceded in death by her husband Jim Lund, parents Paul and Elfriede Otto, two brothers Helmut and Siegfried Otto, one sister Annie Jaiser. .
