Obituary of Dustin Barnes
Dustin Michael Barnes of Minneapolis died on Friday, January 4, 2013, at the age of 29. Dustin was born on February 16, 1983, to Michael Barnes and Jayne (Barnes) Tyler in Cambridge, Minnesota. He attended elementary school in Cambridge-Isanti and attended Crown College as an adult.
Dustin married Amber Dralle on May 24, 2003, and from this union two wonderful sons were born, Grant and Austin. They later divorced and Dustin was then united in marriage to Kelly Lovaasen on June 4, 2008 and was most recently engaged to Tiffany Tomlinson. Dustin became very involved in AA with sponsoring many people, speaking at meetings and conferences nationwide, and founded and facilitated a support group in Cambridge called "Simple Not Easy". Additionally, he helped found "The Alley" church in Midway in the fall of 2007, and the AA group "The Firing Line" in 2008. His recovery work positively affected many, many people. He worked as an alumni coordinator at New Beginnings in Waverly, Minnesota, and most recently as a salesman for Able Restoration Company.
Dustin was a very intelligent, funny and artistic individual. He enjoyed spending time with his two boys, family and friends, fishing, deer hunting, riding his motorcycle, camping, mixing music and traveling.
He is survived by mother Jayne Tyler of Cambridge, sons Grant and Austin Barnes of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, paternal grandmother Gwen Barnes Johnson (George) of Brunswick, Minnesota, siblings Tom (Sarah) Barnes, Katrina Barnes, Vincent Barnes, Michael Barnes, Matthew Barnes and Mitchell Barnes, together with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dustin was preceded in death by father Michael, paternal grandfather Vern Barnes, and maternal grandparents Donald and Donna Lindquist. Dustin will be sadly missed by all the lives that he touched.
