Obituary of Helen Dobe

Helen Frances Dobe, 82, of Dalbo passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Cambridge Health Care Center. She was born February 14, 1926 in Brook Park Township, Minnesota to Frank and Victoria (Keinz) Schlechter. Helen grew up in Springvale Township where she attended country school. On August 20, 1945 she was united in marriage to Edwin M. Dobe in California while he was serving in the United States Navy. After Edwin was discharged in 1946 they moved to Dalbo and purchased a farm. It was there that they farmed and raised their two children. After over 38 years of farming the couple retired and continued to live there until just recently moving to the Cambridge Health Care Center. After retiring they enjoyed traveling and going to the casinos. Helen also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and quilting, bird watching and caring for her family. She was a long time member of Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo where she was active in the Women's group and circle and also the quilting club. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joe, Frank, John, Henry and Herman Schlechter, and sister Anne Johnson. Helen is survived by her husband Edwin, son Mike Dobe of Orlando, FL, daughter Cindy Anderson of Dalbo, two grandchildren Jeffrey Thiel of St. Francis, Jessica and husband Brian Farmer of Milaca, two great grandchildren Makenzie and Mason Farmer, sisters Hilda Olson and Mary Stricker both of Elk River, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
