Obituary of Donald A. Knickerbocker

Donald A. Knickerbocker, 76, of North Branch, passed away at University of Minnesota Hospital on Saturday, February 24, 2018. 

            He was born on August 19, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN to William and Jessie (Culshaw) Knickerbocker. 

            On June 8, 1963 he was united in marriage to Adeline Miller in Cambridge and they raised three children.  Don and Adeline enjoyed 54 years of marriage and did everything together.  He enjoyed life to the fullest, playing golf with the Wurm’s and the Cow-a-bunga group, fishing at Little Splithand, deer hunting with his family and traveling throughout the United States, with Adeline and their dog Brandy, visiting many family members. Don was an avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, and fishing.  He and Adeline were lifetime members of the Grandy Nine Golf Course.  Adeline passed away on June 16, 2017 and Don’s heart was broken.  He is now together with her forever.

            Don worked as a machinist at Basic Industries in New Brighton for several years. 

            He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Adeline, sister Jane Knickerbocker and brother William Knickerbocker.

            Don is survived by sons Thomas and wife Tina Knickerbocker of Lawrenceburg, TN, James and wife Debbie Knickerbocker of Stanchfield, daughter Sharon and husband Keith Barton of North Branch, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, brother Dick and wife Jan Knickerbocker of Tucson, AZ, sister Marie and husband Mike Kraus of McGregor, brothers-in-law Gerald Miller of Stacy, William and wife Roseanna Miller of Sheridan, OR, as well as many other relatives and friends.

 

Mass of Christian Burial 11AM, Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, North Branch.  Visitation 5-8 PM Thursday at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge and one hour prior to the service at the church.
