Obituary of D. John Osborne

Donald John "Chubb" Osborne of Cambridge, MN died on April 1, 2018 at home with family at 92 years of age.

D. John was born February 22, 1926 to Donald and Mary Osborne in Bowbells, ND. He grew up on farms in ND and OR with two brothers and two sisters. He married his childhood sweetheart Vera Jensen on June 5, 1945 in Plentywood, MT. As a family they lived in Bowbells ND, Springfield OR, Blaine MN and settled in Cambridge MN. While they raised their four children, he worked for the Soo Line Rail Road and continued to farm part time. Both he and Vera had grown up riding Thoroughbred Race horses in ND and Canada and they continued their passion of raising Thoroughbreds after he retired. They were married for 71 years.

D John was first and foremost a family man. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He always put their needs before his own. He loved to tell stories about his family, loved to play cards, and could talk about horses all day.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law Sandra Osborne, son Jack (Julie) Osborne and son Rick (Joyce) Osborne of Cambridge, MN, daughter Roxann McCain of Lonsdale MN, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Vera Osborne, son John Osborne, son-in-law Christopher McCain, granddaughter Rochelle Osborne, brother Robert Osborne, and sister Betty Maule.

There will be an open house Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 1PM - 4 PM at Osborne Farm, 506 340th TRL NE, Cambridge, MN.
