Obituary of Thomas Lee Wilkinson
Thomas Lee Wilkinson, 71, of Cambridge, born August 15, 1946
Tom grew up in Bird Island, Minnesota until the family moved to Brooklyn Center, Minnesota where he graduated from Osseo High School in 1964. He joined the Navy during the Vietnam War serving on the USS Oriskany (CVA 34). He returned home where he met Joanne and her two girls, Wendy and Brenda. They married on September 26, 1970 and moved to Cambridge. Eddy and Troy were born in 1971 and 1973. Tom worked as an ironworker, working on the IDS Center and other projects. He also worked on the Alaskan pipeline in the mid 1970’s. Following this, he worked for NSP in Becker for many years. Eventually he joined his sons in construction. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ice fishing with his sons, brothers, grandchildren, family and friends, and attending his grandchildren’s events. Tom entered into the loving arms of his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on May 6, 2018.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lionel and Delores; sister, Lynn Chemberlin; brother’s in law, Bob Chemberlin and Carl Bergstrom. He is survived by former wife: Joanne Wilkinson, children; Edward Wilkinson (Jorie), Troy Wilkinson (Jenny), Wendy Aronsen (Leif), Brenda Smith (Rick) and Cully Shierts. Grandchildren: Jace and Jaidan Wilkinson, Mickenzie and Mickayla Wilkinson, Bailey, Bjorn and Brynn Aronsen, Hunter, Weston, Tanner, and Ellie Smith. Siblings: Julanne Bergstrom, Meridy King (Bruce), Jo Heath (Rick), Gail Wilkinson (Tom Barthel), Jim Wilkinson, David Wilkinson (Deb), John Wilkinson (Kris) and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery ~ Assembly Area #2 ~ at 1 PM Thursday May 24 with Honors.
