Obituary of Betty Jane Williams
Betty Jane Williams, age 96, died on June 24, 2018. Betty was born on July 7, 1921 to Guy and Paula Baker in Detroit, Michigan. Betty grew up in Detroit where her father worked at the Dearborn River Rouge Ford Plant. Betty graduated from Detroit Cooley High School in 1939. During World War II, Betty worked for Ford Motor Company at the Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
On December 16, 1944, Betty was united in marriage to Jack G. Williams, Sr. in Detroit, Michigan when Jack was on leave from the U.S. Army. To this union, five children were born; Shelly Fast, Hopkins, Minnesota, Bonnie (Franklin) Blodgett, Eagle River, Alaska, Jack, Jr. (Gloria “Tutti”) Williams, Cambridge, Minnesota, Mark (Londa) Williams, Cornell, Wisconsin, Timothy Williams, deceased. In addition, Betty was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Over the years, Betty enjoyed her role serving as a pastor’s wife at churches in Minnesota and Wisconsin. During part of this time, Betty also worked at 3M’s Chemolite Complex in Cottage Grove, MN. Their last pastorate served was the Isle Evangelical Free Church in Isle, MN up until the time of Jack’s death in 1982. During her retirement years, Betty resided for 20 years in the Boyceville, Wisconsin and 16 years in Cambridge, Minnesota including most recently at the GracePointe Crossing long-term care facility.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jack; infant son Timothy Peter; son-in-law Wendell Fast; parents Guy and Paula Baker; twin sister and husband Marjorie (John) Nickell; and younger sister and husband Joice (Jerome) Wiedow.
Funeral Service is at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church in Boyceville, Wisconsin with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be with her husband at the Tiffany Cemetery in Boyceville, Wisconsin following the service.
