Obituary of Albert Louis Fluegel
Albert Louis Fluegel, born December 14th, 1929 to Herbert and Harriet Fluegel at Granada, MN passed away on July 1st, 2018 at Pharmly on the Lakes Transitional Care unit in Chisago City, Mn.
Al attended school in his younger years in Granada, Fairmont, and Mapleton, Mn. He joined the Airforce in December of 1946 and served in Texas, New Jersey, The Azores, California, Fairbanks Alaska and then was discharged June of 1950 at Great Falls, MT. He married Shirley Thate on September 24th, 1950. They had a son Ricky and later adopted 2 children. (Lisa and Lonnie) Their son Ricky passed away in 1999. Al had many jobs. He worked for Fairmont Canning, Fairmont Railroad Motors, construction, Fairmont Appliance & TV & for 20 years worked as a boiler man at the Fairmont schools. He retired in April of 1992, but worked for Total Comfort in Fairmont. During this time he and Shirley traveled to California, New York, and Washington DC visiting his brothers/family who were living in those states. Al was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont and enjoyed fishing outings with fellow members. In July of 2000 Al lost his wife Shirley of 49 years. He later sold his home and moved to Wyoming, Mn with his son Lonnie, his wife and 2 grandchildren. Al lived with them until he met Iva Lou Becker and then married on August 2nd, 2003. Al and Iva Lou’s residence was in Cambridge, Mn. They attended Joy Lutheran Church and have met and made many good friends. They enjoy going camping and traveling during the summer months. Al was very loved by his 7 step-children. They always included him in family gatherings, fishing, camping and being there to help him as he was there to help them. He was a loving husband, father and step-dad. He will be greatly missed.
Al is survived by his wife Iva Lou, daughter Lisa (Shawn) McGrath, son Lonnie (Anna) Fluegel, 7 step children Paul Becker, Dan (Deb) Becker, Greg (Michelle) Becker, Mark (Joy) Becker, Mike (Cindy) Becker, Karen Antrobus, Shelly (Tim) Pankan, 5 grandchildren, Emily & Michael McGrath, Sabrina, Devin & Zoya Fluegel, 20 step-grandchildren, 23 step great grandchildren, sisters Mary Fluegel and Dorothy (Terry)White, many nieces, nephews, and good friends. Preceded in death by his 1st wife Shirley Fluegel (Thate) his son Ricky, 4 brothers, Hubert, Roger, Dick, Bruce, and his sister Eleanor.
