Dear Marilyn - what a privilege and joy it was to live with you and Aunt Margaret so many years ago. Your sharp mind and wit always kept me on my toes. I remember your infectious laugh, your boundless energy and your constant dieting. I remember the time you tried to make jello. I remember when you had your bunion surgery and were trying to find things to do. I remember you and Margaret getting up to walk before work. So many good and happy memories. Thank you.

Oh, the memories of this dear friend! From singing duets to seeing how many snow drifts we could plow through in the
Grandy Pines! One of my favorite memories is of Marilyn sneaking eggs out of our refrigerator. She would take them
home and blow out the inner contents...then replace them in our fridge. The look on my dad's face would be priceless
when he would try to fry his breakfast eggs! The joke was on her, though, for one day she slipped on some ice with the
eggs in her pocket. God bless Marilyn Starr....child of God and definitely one of a kind! She is etched into our memories
forever!

Marilyn was one of the first Bethel people I knew. We worked together in leadership for the Association of Christians in Student Development. I learned from her, particularly in her care for students at the margins. She had a joy in leading and serving. Her professionalism was ahead of her time - elevating the student development profession. Bethel was honored to have her as a leadeer in caring for students.

I count myself to be one of the luckiest people to have had “Miss Starr” as a friend, mentor and confidant Her wisdom and guidance were God given. When I got to Bethel in 1968 I was like a lost puppy. I didn't know how to live away from home, had little support and did not know how to handle all the changes coming my way, In Miss Starr I had someone who had clear boundries, appropriate expectations, acceptance for who I was and most importantly, love. We played racketball every week. I laughed, cried and confided in her. She was one tough mentor and I loved her dearly. i wouldn’t have made it through Bethel without her. I’ll miss you Miss Starr. To Marilyn's family,
I send sympathies from the Don and Lois Hill family....Steve and Lisa, Renae and Ann. As I reflect on the joy Marilyn brought to the Hill family, I can only smile. She and Aunt Margaret visits would be anticipated by all of us. Their love for the cabin was shared with us, too, giving us precious memories. I knew, that when she would be coming home with Aunt Margaret to Winnebago, we would get to hear her sing at church.....I loved her voice and now she is singing with my parents and many others in heaven. She and my husband, Scott, always would gave each other a hard time, all the time knowing they really appreciated the same kindred spirit. He was in heaven to welcome her home, too.
She was a dear friend to Aunt Margaret and that meant so much to me. At times, hey acted like an old married couple, disagreeing/arguing over silly little things or correcting each other. You just had to smile because you knew there was a deep love behind it all.
I'm sorry that I can't attend her memorial service. My heart is there is spirit.
Nancy, your love and support for your aunt has been amazing. May God bless you for your unconditional love. The pictorial video was priceless. Thank you for all your hard work to share Marilyn's life story through pictures.

Marilyn was my teacher, my role model, my mentor and my lifelong cherished friend. I have always admired, respected and loved her dearly for the gift of who she was.
