Gladys Rose Brynildson, 93, of Cambridge, Minnesota passed away at Prairie Senior Cottages of Isanti on Friday, November 16, 2018.

Gladys was born on July 18, 1925 in Waseca, Minnesota to Emil and Rose (Kletschka) Schlinger, the youngest of five children. Gladys was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1943. God, family, and friends were important to her throughout her life.

On January 23, 1952, Gladys was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Brynildson of New Richland, Minnesota. Their son, Jeffrey, was born in 1953. They farmed in New Richland until moving to Cambridge in 1959.

Gladys loved to garden, draw, braid rugs, dance and restore antiques. Her careers included loan teller and assistant cashier at Peoples State Bank for 14 years and office manager at East Central Electric for 15 years. She also served on the board of East Central Electric after she retired.

She is a past recipient of the “Employee of the Year” award given by Cambridge Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, she was honored as the Isanti County Outstanding Senior Citizen. Her volunteer activities included work with the American Cancer Society, Li’l Farm Children’s Home, American Legion, Cambridge Hospital, Isanti County Historical Society, Cambridge Senior Activity Center, and Christ the King Catholic Church. She cared deeply for her communities and fondly recalled representing Waseca at the 1947 Saint Paul Winter Carnival as the Waseca Fire Queen.
