Obituary of Joel William Wentler
Joel ‘Willy” William Wentler, 58, of Zimmerman, MN passed away on Thursday May 22, 2019 at his home.
Joel was born in Fergus Falls, MN to James & Jolene Wentler on December 24, 1960. He attended and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. He went on to graduate from Staples Area Technical Institute with a Graphic Arts degree. Joel married Lyndi Hoye in 1981 and later divorced in 1998. They had three beautiful children; Maggi, Kelsey and Adam. Joel served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 10 years. He then transferred to the Air National Guard where he served 11 additional years retiring as a Master Sergeant. Joel was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal in 1999, the Meritorious Service Medal in 2001 and the Command Chief Master Sergeant’s award in 2001. Joel worked in the printing industry for many years. In 1991 he purchased his own printing company, Alliance Printing. In June of 2008 he sold the business to retire at his home on East Hunter Lake in Zimmerman, MN
Joel enjoyed the breathtaking views from his home on the lake. He would often share his excitement in seeing eagles flying over daily. Joel liked playing golf and would make it extra memorable by wearing goofy outfits on the course. He also enjoyed playing softball, watching movies, sports, bird-watching and walking and snuggling with the dogs. Above all, he valued his time spent with his children, especially if it included grilled hamburgers with toasted buns, homemade french fries and of course drinking ice-cold Coca-Cola Classic!
Joel is preceded in death by his brother Jess “Chubs” Wentler, parents Jolene and James Wentler.
Joel is survived by his daughter Maggi Wentler (Cory Wellman) of Merrifield, MN; daughter Kelsey (Matt) Anderson of Zimmerman, MN; son Adam Wentler of Zimmerman, MN; and cherished Grandson Landon Anderson.
Also survived by his brothers Jay Wentler of Fergus Falls, MN; Jody (Teresa) Wentler of Oak Grove, MN; and Jason Wentler of Erhard, MN; sister Jill Wentler of Fergus Falls, MN and five granddogs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at “Wentlerville” form 11 AM to 2 PM on Tuesday May 28, 2019. Lunch will be served and per Willy’s request a HUGH bonfire! Wentlerville – 33730 Paradise Drive, Underwood, MN 56586
