After, she moved to Minneapolis to live with her sister Claire, she got a job at Mando Paper Company in a steno pool. She married Axel "Bud" Larsen Jr. on July 12, 1958. This date was important for it was also Bud's birthday, and she wanted to make sure he never forgot. They resided in St. Paul so Bud could work on his four-year apprenticeship in optical work. At this time Janice began working as a clerk in the accounting department for the Northern Pacific Railway.
Janice and Bud had two children, Larry born in 1962, and Lisa born in 1964. They moved to Hinckley in 1968 where Janice worked for an attorney in Pine City. During her time in Cambridge she worked at an attorney's office, Memorial Hospital, at Century 21 Moline Realty where she spent 5 years, and then at the Isanti County Courthouse in the auditor’s office as a cartographer. She and Bud opened and ran a shoe store for three years. They were both involved in the American Legion where they served as commander and president at the same time. They both loved to golf, so much so that they also spent time working at Grandy 9 Golf Course where they managed the clubhouse and the grounds.
She loved collecting stamps, puzzles, bead crafting, she was an excellent seamstress and gardener, and she enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family. In her later years she loved to read and spending time with her grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
