Obituary of Lawrence "Bud" Alfred Medin
Lawrence “Bud” A. Medin, 93 of Cambridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 12, 2015 at Ecumen in North Branch.
He was born on December 29, 1921 to George and Nelia (Erickson) in Cambridge, Minnesota. Bud grew up in the Cambridge area where he attended school. He went on to join the U.S Navy and while stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago he met Elvera Arvidson. Bud and Elvy would later marry on June 7, 1947 at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. They raised their three children on their farm east of Cambridge.
Bud folk danced for years as a member of the Dala Folk Dancers from Mora which performed as far away as Sweden and he also enjoyed square dancing. Travels included car and bus trips to many part of the U.S. and a tour of Sweden and Norway. He worked for 30 years as a manager at Cambridge State Hospital. He farmed until he was 80 years old on the family farm east of Cambridge.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Elvera; sisters Jeanette Johnson and Phyllis Nelson. Bud is survived by his children: Robert (Shirley), Janet, Jerry (Jennifer); 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Wallace (Donna) Medin and sister Yvonne (Joe) Cilento.
