Obituary of Ethel L. Nyberg

Ethel L. Nyberg, age 95, died May 7, at Riverwood Village in Cambridge, MN where she moved three years ago to be close to family. Ethel was born in Cambridge, MN to John and Emma Nelson on January 7, 1920. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1938. In 1939 she married Robert L. Nyberg. They moved to Sherburn, MN in 1950 where they raised their four children. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Ethel enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, reading, doing puzzles, and visiting with family and friends. Ethel was a member of the Sherburn United Methodist Church for more than 50 years until it closed several years ago. She was active with the United Methodist Women and an adult leader with the MYF, 4-H, and Girl Scouts. Robert and Ethel divided their retirement between Sherburn and McGregor, MN where she was active in the United Church of Christ, Sherburn, MN. Ethel was preceded in death by Robert, her beloved husband of 55 years, her granddaughter Dawn Wilson, son-in-law John Brumm, brothers Archie, Roy, Vernie, James, Bobby, and sister Marian Phillips. She is survived by son Steven Nyberg, daughters Jill Nyberg, Scarlet Brumm, Rosemary Wilson, and son-in-law Dennis Wilson, grandchildren Garth (Adriana) Wilson, Pam (Andy) Johnson, Cheryl (John) Newberger, Robin (Jeff) Clayton, Jason (Heather) Nyberg, Jeff (Sarah) Nyberg great grandchildren Theresa, Dawn, Zachary, Collin, Trenton, Alanna, Karl, and A.J., sisters-in-law Dorothy Nyberg and Shirley Nyberg. Services will be held Tuesday, May 12, at the United Church of Christ, 212 North Prairie Street, Sherburn, MN at 11AM with visitation one hour prior to the service. The family requests memorial contributions be made to United Methodist Church, 98 South 1st Street, McGregor, MN 55780 or United Church of Christ, 212 North Prairie Street, Sherburn, MN 56171.
