Obituary of Carol M. Hansen

Carol Marcia Hansen, of Crosslake, Minnesota passed away peacefully on  May 31, 2016, at the age of 72.  She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 25, 1944 to Rev. Carl and Neoma “Tiny” Holmberg. Carol was in the 1962 graduating class from Brockton High School in Brockton, Massachusetts.  In 1976, she was wed to Robert John Hansen in a small church down in Worthington, Minnesota, officiated by her father, Rev. Carl. Holmberg.  She and Robert lived in McHenry, Illinois for 25 years.  In 2000, she and Robert moved to Crosslake, MN. They also spent 20 years vacationing on Sanibel Island and then settled in Fort Meyers during the winters since 2002. She was known as the “rebel” among her siblings and family, and was proud of it.  Carol was an exceptional wife, mother and homemaker.  She enjoyed and was wonderful at quilting, folk art painting, cooking, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Carol spent many miles on the back of her husband’s motorcycle across the U.S. Later in the years, miles were spent in their motorhome traveling to both coasts and spending time in AZ.  She took joy in listening to the Moody Bible Institute on the radio and participating in Bible studies. Carol loved the Lord and was at peace in being reunited with Him. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Carl and Neoma “Tiny” Holmberg. Carol is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert John Hansen; her son, David Swedberg, and her daughter, Christina (Ethan) Cohen; grandchildren, Matthew Swedberg and Svea Cohen; her sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Johnson and Jeannine (Dale) Carlson as well as many other relatives and friends.
