Obituary of Barbara J. Nordberg
Mrs. Barbara Jean Nordberg, Nee’ Hall, age 84 of Cambridge, MN, died at Arbor Oaks Assisted Living in Andover, Minnesota on September 4, 2016 surrounded by family.
Barbara was born September 16, 1931 in Merna, Nebraska, the daughter of Marshall and Sibyl (McCrory) Hall. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1939 and went on to become a medical assistant in Minneapolis.
Barbara moved to Cambridge MN and worked for Drs. Larson and Magnuson in the Cambridge Clinic as a medical assistant. She married Wayne Nordberg at Cambridge Lutheran Church on October 7, 1951, and started a family of three children, Paul, Alison and Clark. Barbara worked with her husband in his Electrical Contracting business and eventually opened and managed a Lighting Studio and Gift Shop. Barbara returned to the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in Nursing in 1975 and worked in Labor and Delivery at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Child-Bearing and Child –Rearing in 1980, teaching in the Nursing Program at Anoka Ramsey and worked as a Midwife at Hennepin County Medical Center before concentrating her energy on her businesses at home.
Barbara was passionate about the ministry of service at her church. She served in many Church Circles, committees and ministries, including the Befrienders Ministry. In her later years, she initiated the Parish Nursing Program at Cambridge Lutheran and was integral in starting the Second Harvest Food Shelf. After she retired from these ministries, Barbara sewed baby quilts for babies baptized at the church.
Barbara will be missed by the family she loved and treasured, including her three children: Paul (Leslie) Nordberg of Cambridge MN, Alison (Dan) Husak of Coon Rapids, MN, and Clark (Christine) Nordberg of Viroqua, WI; six grandchildren: Eric (Jennifer) Nordberg, Joni (Chris) Nordberg; Brian Hanna, Andrew and Jacob Nordberg, and Alex Husak; and three brothers: Robert (Betsy) Hall of Rock Hill, SC, Wayne Hall of Winchester KY, and James (Sandie) Hall of Waynesboro, VA; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Sibyl Hall, husband, Wayne Nordberg, Brother Marshall Hall, brother and sister-in-law George and Maxine (Nordberg) Jenkins.
