Obituary of Mildred A Brethorst-Erickson

    Mildred “Millie” Agnes Brethorst-Erickson passed away peacefully on July 14, 2017 at the age of 89.

    Millie was born on October 24, 1927 to Ella and Erik Olson of rural Cambridge.  She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1945 and then went to Minnesota School of Business.  Millie worked for many years in downtown Minneapolis, where she met her first husband, Norbert “Bud” Brethorst.  They were united in marriage on December 16, 1950 at Cambridge Lutheran Church. From that union, four children were born; Karl, Barbara, Mary and Beverly.

After the untimely death of Norbert “Bud”, she married Delmer Erickson in December of 1992 and they spent 20 years together.

   She loved to spend time with her family.  She also loved to dance.  Her skills as a cook were greatly appreciated by her family and the children at Cambridge-Isanti school, where she worked for 20 plus years.

    Millie was preceded in death by her husbands, Norbert “Bud” Brethorst and Delmer Erickson; daughter Mary Brethorst; nephew Stewart Cewe and siblings Martha Axell, Rudolph Olson and Ruth Onorato.

    She is survived by her children, Karl (Julie)Brethorst, Barbara (Terry) Baar, and Beverly (Timothy) Hanna.  Grandmother of Amanda (Dale) Marty, Brian (Rachel) Baar, Daniel (Amy) Baar, Richelle (Troy) Pullis, Carlton (Anna) Hanna and Rebeccah (Ian) Fruchtenbaum; Great-Grandmother of Morgan & Alex Marty, Anna & Nathan Baar, Gavin & Eric Baar , and Madi, Hanna & Molly Pullis.

Also survived by her nieces Elaine Ashford and Janet Axell; nephew Frank Onorato Jr. and many other relatives and friends.

   A special thanks to the loving Staff at Prairie Sr. Cottages and St. Croix Hospice for their care that allowed Millie to live her life with dignity to the very end.

   Funeral Service 11 AM Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Cambridge Lutheran Church 621 Old North Main St, Cambridge.  Visitation 1 hour prior to service at the church.  Interment at Cambridge Lutheran Cemetery.  Memorials preferred to Prairie Senior Cottages of Isanti, 706 6th Ave NE 55040.
