Obituary of Chester D. Brown

Chester D. Brown passed away on August 16, 2017, after living a full and happy life for 95 years. He was a long-time resident of Cambridge, MN, where he lived until 2009, when he moved to the Commons on Marice Senior Living Community in Eagan, MN. There, he was an active member of their chorus, which he helped establish, as well as a savvy card player. He also made it his job to welcome new residents and relentlessly tease the staff.

Chet was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, June; his parents, Roy and Alice Brown; brother, Orville Brown; and sister, Hazel Dahlstrom. He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Haselberger and Debra (Keith) Maleck; granddaughters Christine (Jared) Schumacher, Michelle (Michael)Erickson, and Aja Maleck; great-grandsons, Caleb and Benjamin Schumacher and great-granddaughter, Bailey Erickson; sister Mae Lindstrom; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Sonia Pond and the many staff members at Brighton Hospice, who helped make Chet’s final months happy and comfortable. Your work is greatly appreciated.

We will be celebrating Chet’s life at a gathering on Saturday, August 26, at 1:00pm in the Atrium at the Commons on Marice, 1380 Marice Drive, Eagan, MN (651-688-9999). We ask that, in lieu of flowers, people bring stories and remembrances to share at a luncheon following the service. He will be truly missed by all.
