Obituary of Eleanore L. Hesse
Eleanore Lucy Hesse, age 96, of North Branch, MN, passed away on Tuesday April 2, 2019 at Ecumen Assisted Living Center.
Eleanore was born in 1922 at home in Oxford Township, Isanti County to Ernest and Mabel Koecher. She went to school in a one-room schoolhouse. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Weber, where she later met her future husband, Otto. Eleanore spent a few years working in the cities during the war and returned to marry Otto and begin their life together farming. She liked being outside, so she enjoyed her farm life, planting and tending gardens, as well as other farm chores.
Eleanore and Otto enjoyed the card parties that they participated in with friends and relatives. Bingo outings were a high point for Eleanore, often taking her grandchildren along for the fun. She also enjoyed the casino, taking the bus and visiting with her friends. Her many other interests included her church involvements, especially Ladies Aid, Homemakers Club meetings and 4-H activities with her children. She was a leader, making her way to Washington, DC in those days. Eleanore was known for her geneology research on the Koecher, Schlipp, Gustaf Johnson and Andrew Ryberg family trees. She also enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, with many of her grandchildren participating in her fun.
Eleanore is survived by her daughters; Nancy (Don) Murden, Marge (Steve) Lindstrom, Mary (Jim) Nelson and Barb (Dennis) Hensch; grandchildren David (Kim) Murden, Donna (Terry) Nelson, Jody Splittstoser, John Splittstoser, Matt (Shelly) Lindstrom, Sam (Kristin) Lindstrom, Allison (Dan) Wenderski, Kelly (Rob) Doohen, Jeremy (Petra) Nelson, Mikayla Hensch (Eric Hanson) and Michael Hensch; great-grandchildren Ruby and Grace Murden, Kayla and Kerri Nelson, Hannah, Jack and Paige Lindstrom; Ben and Will Lindstrom; Conrad and Carly Wenderski; Noah and Madeleine Doohen and Barrett Nelson; her brother-in-law Adolph Carlson and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
