Dearest Diane, Tim, Tom, Gayle and the entire Storlien family:
I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband and dad. Toby was a most wonderful human being. Unique, kind, funny, he had such a great sense of humor, and he was a very smart man. He taught me so much and I always liked to hear his viewpoint on things and enjoyed hearing about when he was young and growing up in the country. I remember when I first met Tim we went to visit Toby at BN downtown, and I was in awe of him. We went to lunch, I'll never forget, and he made a big impression on me. There are so many wonderful memories, like the baseball games, or being at the cabin. I admired his fishing skills, and his knowledge--he had so much knowledge about so many things. He taught me so much. He also had so many talents, I will never forget his green thumb, which made me so jealous, how he could grow all those vegetables with ease over the winter, and have this wonderful garden, when I couldn't seem to keep any plants alive. One of the nicest memories I have of him was at our wedding, looking so handsome in his suit and Diane always looking so pretty.
I know I'm not part of the family anymore, but he meant so much to me. He was a dad to me, he treated me with love and welcomed me into his home and his family for many years. I can never thank him enough for that. I had really wanted to see him when I was back in August, but I was not able to because of my own family situation. I feel horribly that I did not get to say goodbye to him and tell him I love him. I prayed for him very hard, I can only hope now that he knows how much I loved him and how terribly everyone will miss him.
I wish I could be there for you in some way, to give you hugs, to thank you for your kindness over the years and I know I was not always pleasant or nice to be around. I just want you all to know that I Iove you and I'm praying that you get through this awful time. I know how acute your loss is, Toby was an amazing father and husband. They don't make 'em like that anymore. He was one-of-a-kind.
My prayers and thoughts are with you, and I send lots of love.
Please accept my sincerest condolences.
Love,
Karin
