Our Heritage

Local resident, Alvin Berglund, started his own funeral home business in Cambridge in the 1920's and in 1947 relocated to the former home of local businessman D.O. Anderson. Berglund made many improvements to the turn-of-the-century home to give it the comfortable atmosphere still prevalent today.

Alvin Berglund employed a young funeral director by the name of Gordon Carlson, who later purchased the business. After two years of running the Carlson Funeral Home, Gordon's brother, Stanley, became a partner and, after 24 years of providing quality service to the community, the Carlson brothers sold the business to their employee of five years, Terry Labatte and his wife Cynthia. In 1992, Terry hired Jeff Lillemoen as a full time funeral director. Jeff was from the community and knew Terry personally and it was he who had influenced Jeff into becoming a funeral director.

Stanley continued to work as an employee for a few years until he retired. He passed away in January 1999. Gordon retired from the day-to-day operations when the business was sold and continued assisting with funeral services and various other duties until 2004. Terry passed away in May 2001. 

In April 2004,  Jeff and Kelly Lillemoen purchased the business and what is now known as the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
