Obituary of Lois M. Swanson

Lois M. Swanson, 89, of Braham passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her home at Elmhurst Commons. She was born April 17, 1927 in Rushseba Township, Minnesota to Harry and Mamie (Nelson) Johnson. Lois grew up in the Rush City area, attending The Brickyard School as well as Rush City High School. On June 2, 1945 she was united in marriage to Arthur Swanson at Calvary Lutheran Church at Rush Point. Arthur’s parents retired from farming so he and Lois moved into the Swanson family farm and farmed for many years, raising their five children, Susan, Cheryl, Bonnie, Ronald and Debbie. After Arthur was forced to retire at age 51, they moved west of Cambridge and live in the Cambridge area for many years. Lois worked at department stores and the uniform shop for 30 years. In retirement they spent 24 years wintering in Mesa, Arizona. In 1998 Art and Lois moved to Braham, later living in Park Manor and more recently Lois lived at Elmhurst Commons. Lois was a longtime active member at Calvary Lutheran Church at Rush Point, enjoyed traveling, camping and dancing. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur in 1999, son Ronald, grandson Patrick Lindgren and sister Harriet Evarts. Lois is survived by her children Susan (Larry) Johnson of St. Cloud, Cheryl (Gary) Lindgren of Cambridge, Bonnie Herringshaw of Minneapolis, Debbie (Rick) Olson of Cambridge, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
