Obituary of Linval Arvilda Westman

Linval Arvilda Westman, 88, of Cambridge, formerly of Lexington passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at home surround by loved ones. She was born February 7, 1928 in Long Lake, MN to Linval and Vernetta (Roline) Nehrbass. Linval grew up in the Long Lake area and attended Mound High School. She met Glen Westman at a young age, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and when he returned they would marry on December 8, 1945 at the Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale. They made their home in South Minneapolis and their first three children were born. After living there for 5 years, they bought a home in Lexington and five more children were born. Glen worked at REA Express and Linval worked for a time in housekeeping, but mainly stayed home to raise their eight children. She later cared for many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. After 53 years in Lexington, Linval and Glen bought a home in Walbo in December 2003. Linval was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Circle Pines, and was active in TOPS. She enjoyed reading, and especially enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren, always wanting to be at home with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Monte Nehrbass, grandchildren Eva, Katrina and Dakota Westman, Dylan Salo. Linval is survived by her husband of 71 years Glen, sister Bonnie Hedtke of Golden Valley, children Bruce (Ginny) Westman of Andover, Lynn Salo of Cambridge, Gwen (Darrell) Ihnot of Ham Lake, Mark Westman of Forest Lake, Ron (Nancy) Westman of Minong, WI, Joan Westman of Cambridge, Marian (Howard) Malmstedt of Columbus, Heidi Westman of Cambridge, 32 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Allina Home Care and Hospice and their caring staff for the wonderful care provided to our mother and grandmother.
