Obituary of Allene A. Coleman

Allene A. Coleman, 91, of Springvale, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. She was born on October 30, 1925, in Hawkins, Wisconsin to Henry and Sigrid (Wanngren) Hanson. She lived a short time in Hawkins until the family moved to Brunswick and later Stanchfield. Allene graduated from Braham High School in 1944 and was class salutatorian. After graduating she worked for a time at Wyeth Pharmaceutical at the Foshay Tower. On September 24, 1949 she was united in marriage to R. Stewart Coleman at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. They made their home in Springvale and later purchased the Coleman family farm. She helped Stewart at the farm, they had dairy cattle until 1965. Allene worked a few years at the Twin Cities Arsenal. She was a longtime member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aide. Allene was also longtime Clerk for Springvale Township. She enjoyed gardening, reading, hiking, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Harriet Hanson and Bernice Peterson, brothers Howard Hanson and Kenneth Hanson. Allene is survived by her husband of over 67 years R. Stewart, son Craig and wife Mary Coleman of Edina, daughter Barbara Coleman of Largo, FL, granddaughter Anna Coleman, special niece Linda (Bruce) Mickelson of Cambridge, as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
