Obituary of Lavan O. Morgan

Lavan Ovedia Olson Berndt Lofgren Morgan; 90, passed away on December 5, 2016 at Prairie Senior Cottages, Isanti, MN. Lavan was born to Oluf and Laura (Brenden) Olson on May 11, 1926 in Larson, ND. In 1937 the family moved to Minnesota and eventually settled in the St. James area. In 1942, Lavan married William H. Berndt and to them one son, Bill, was born. In 1959 she married Vernon Lofgren who passed away in 1992. In 1993 Lavan married Edward Morgan who passed away in 2006. Lavan lived most of her life in the St. James area where she completed the 8th grade. She was confirmed at First Lutheran Church in St. James and was a long- time member of the VFW Auxiliary in St. James and a Golden member of the Sons of Norway Lodge. Throughout her entire life, she was dedicated to the church, family and community. Lavan has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe and Scandinavia. She was a “Snowbird” for many years, spending winters in Weslaco, Texas. Lavan is survived by her son Bill and his wife Mary; granddaughters Debra(Garth Nutter) and Kristen; great-granddaughters Annika, Olivia and Etta; great-grandson Tavo; sister Verniece Pelzel; sister-in-law Audrey Olson; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Oluf and Laura Olson; husbands William Berndt, Vernon Lofgren and Edward Morgan; sisters Clarabelle Beckius and Lila Keim; brothers Marvin Olson and Olai Olson; half siblings Thea Olson Andreason, Lawrence Olson and Oscar Olson; brothers-in-law Martin Beckius, Raymond Pelzel and Norman Keim and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Prairie Senior Cottages, Isanti, MN for their loving care of Lavan since 2013, and also the St. Croix Hospice staff who cared for her at the end of her journey.
