Obituary of James J. Hockert

James Joseph Hockert, age 92 of Cambridge, formerly of Garrison, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 3, 2017. He was born on February 23, 1925 in Freeport, MN to Fred & Marie Hockert. He graduated from Melrose High School and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He married Mary Jeannette Piechowski on November 28, 1946. He worked as a truck driver for Admiral Merchants, retiring from the Teamsters Local 120 in 1976. Jim had a passion for golf, whether in Florence Garden, AZ or the Mille Lacs course in Garrison. Although, his most important passion was spending time with family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Fred & Marie, three brothers and seven sisters; daughter Rosemarie and son Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife, of 70 years, Mary; sister Bertha Stroeing; sons Jim, Mike and Nick; daughters Mary Jo Elliott, Claudette Christensen and Annette Brown as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
