Obituary of Harold A. Dahlgren

Harold Andrew “Teen” Dahlgren, age 89, of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Harold was born July 24, 1927, in Cambridge, to Myles and Carrie Dahlgren. He was the youngest of 3 children; a sister, Arlene, and a brother, Myles Jr. (Bud). Harold graduated from Cambridge High School in 1945. He was the president of his class, and an All State football player. He joined the Navy in 1945, and served till the end of the war. He attended Hamline University; playing football for them as well; all while earning his degree in education. It was at Hamline where he met the love of his life, Mary Alice Hansen. They were married June 23, 1951, and settled in Cambridge. From this union, 3 children were born: Debra Ann, David Andrew, and Allen Myles. In 1958, Harold moved his family to Moundsview, where he joined the teaching staff at Mounds View High School. He taught there for 23 years, where he took on a variety of positions in addition to teaching and administration. He also earned his Masters Degree at the University of Minnesota. Harold is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Alice; his daughter Debra (Jim) Radziun; his sons David (Jody) Dahlgren, and Allen Dahlgren. He is also survived by grandchildren: Lewis (Jamie) Lawler, Mitchell (Carissa) Lawler, Johannah (John) Gillquist, Barrett Radziun, Myles (Myra) Dahlgren, William Dahlgren, Alyssa Dahlgren, LeAnna Kingsleigh, Andrew Dahlgren, Alexander Dahlgren, and Luke Dahlgren. His great-grandchildren: Jaylynne and Jack Lawler, Braddock, Pierson and Landry Lawler, Morganne, Tyler and Aubrey Gillquist, and Desmond and Liam Dahlgren. Harold was a man of integrity, and we will miss him so much. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Myles and Carrie Dahlgren, his sister Arlene, and his brother, Bud. A memorial service will be held at 11AM, Friday, March 24, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Cambridge, with a visitation 1 hour prior.
