Obituary of Janice J. Hass
Janice Jean Hass, 68, of Isanti passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Fairview-Northland Medical Center in Princeton.
She was born March 31, 1949 in Winona, Minnesota. She lived in Winona a short time before moving to Isanti where she attended school and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1967. After high school, Jan worked for some time at the Cambridge State Hospital and Isanti Elementary School. The past 30 years she worked at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Francis, retiring in December 2016.
On December 9, 1978, she was united in marriage to Galen Hass at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti. They made their home in rural Isanti and raised three children.
Janice was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, playing cards (especially winning), traveling, and she collected elephants and anything Elvis.
She was preceded in death by her parents Norman Schafer and Vivian Schafer, sister Karen Holz, sister-in-law Diane Schafer, grandson Brady Hass, and parents-in-law Edgar and Leona Hass. Jan is survived by her husband Galen, children Jeff and wife Jane Hass of Elk River, Jonelle Branca of St. Paul, Charity and husband Gregory Evans of St. Paul, eight grandchildren Amanda Hass, Elainie (Brandon) Schmidt-Spies, Suzanne Hass, Connor Hass, Bailey Phipps, Joshua Phipps, Kate Branca and Emily Branca, great granddaughter Elizabeth Schmidt-Spies, brothers Dwain Schafer of Pease, and Ron (Nicky) Schafer of Watertown, SD, brothers-in-law Dale (Sharon) Hass of Zimmerman, and Gary (Debra) Hass of Isanti, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services 11AM, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St Francis. Visitation 4-8PM, Monday at the church and one hour prior. Interment in West Oak Grove Cemetery.
