Obituary of Gilbert Esterby

Gilbert Allen Esterby, of Cedar, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Mercy Hospital. He was 54 years old. Gilbert was born on April 17, 1958 to Louis "Jim" Esterby and Genevie D. Viellieu in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On May 23, 1987, he married Judy Nosbusch at Barsness Park in Glenwood, Minnesota. The two moved to East Bethel in November of that year and built their home. Gilbert worked for Hoffman Engineering for 18 years. In 1999, he graduated from Bethel University with honors. His studies were focused on business. Later, he worked as a P.D.M. Manager for Symmetry Solutions up until his death. Gil loved his motorcycle. He was actively involved in his church's motorcycle ministries: the Riders of Our Saviour's. He also enjoyed fixing his motorcycle and restoring cars. He restored a 1968 Buick to give to Judy as a gift. Gilbert was an avid golfer, he loved spending time at his camper in Glenwood, was a great story-teller and joker. Gil enjoyed sports, especially the Vikings. He loved his grandchildren. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog, Angel, and cats, Sachi and Sunshine. Gilbert was preceded in death by his good friend and father-in-law, Paul Nosbusch. He is survived by wife, Judy; father, Jim (Galina); mother, Gen (Tom) Fry; children: Corina (Denny) Relf, Grant Esterby, Bridgette (Gene) Esterby, Kristie (Chris) Esterby; stepson, Trevor Johnson; grandchildren: Dylan, Chloe, and Graiden; sister, Jenine (Tim Dubois) Palmer; other loving friends and family.
