Obituary of Donald Charles Danielson
Donald C. Danielson, 86, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1931 in Seavey Township, Aitkin County, Minnesota to Magnus and Luella (Rose) Danielson. It was in Seavey Township that Donald grew up and attended country school. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Army, served during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged.
On October 29, 1955, he was united in marriage to Melba Larson at Zion Lutheran Church in McGrath. They made their home in Minneapolis where their two daughters Julie and Gay were born. In 1965 the family moved to Brooklyn Park and they raised their girls there.
Donald worked, over 30 years, at N.C. Bennett Lumber, retiring from there at the age of 60. In 1994, Don and Melba moved west of Cambridge and have been there since.
Donald was a member of Central Lutheran Church while in Minneapolis, Lutheran Church of the Master in Brooklyn Park, where he was head usher, and more recently a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church, where he was also an usher.
Don enjoyed camping, hunting & fishing, deer hunting at the shack in Seavey, being with his brothers and sister, and he loved being in the outdoors as much as he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Donald is survived by his wife Melba, daughters Julie (Donald) Schlueter and Gay (Jim) Morris, three grandchildren Lindsey Morris, Andy (Lora) Schlueter, and Alex Schlueter, two great grandsons Joshua and Martin Schlueter, brothers Jim, Bob (Edna), Wayne (JoAnne), and Larry (Dixie) Danielson, and sister Beverly Thomsen (Kieth Severson), as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
