Mildred was one of the first residents I met the day I began work as weekend Marketing Assistant and receptionist at Paradise Valley Retirement in Phoenix. The World According to Mildred to which I was introduced that first day continued to educate, amuse and inspire .... afraid I wouldn't 'eat' that first day, she came down with an assortment suitable to my celiac restrictions. She continued to lift me up with stories of her adventures through her long life, we introduced one another to our church groups and shared musical events which she critiqued with typical humor, intelligence and openness. I drove her to the DMV the day she was told she would no longer be issued a drivers license. Nothing slowed her down, stopped her from 'engaging' with life and times and occasionally advising her choir director on his selections .. The World According to Mildred was a special place. We kept in touch after she moved and felt her longing when she said Heaven could't come soon enough. She is Home now...and resting in the Everlasting Arms of her Savior. Her legacy lives in our hearts forevermore. Rest in Peace dear friend. Thank you for putting "life" in our lives!!
