Obituary of Betty Joan Siems
Betty Joan Siems was born on August 23, 1934 in Hutton Township, IL to Donovan and Florence Moore. She attended school in the Mattoon Area. After High School, she earned her degree in home economics at Eastern Illinois University where she cared for children and infants in the place she resided. She moved to Baudette, MN in the mid 1950’s where she became a home economics teacher. She met her soulmate Walter R. Siems Jr. They married at the first Congregational Church in Baudette on June 12, 1959. They had two beautiful babies that passed away as infants.
Betty and Walter decided to expand their family and adopted Donald Alan in 1965 and Cynthia JoAn in 1967. Betty was a homemaker and care giver to many. Betty and Walter moved to Cambridge in 1977 where they found their forever home. Upon moving to Cambridge, Betty found her life-long passion of volunteering for many local organizations. These included, Shalom, Food Pantry, SACS, COA, 4-H Judging, community garden, Red Hatters and many more up until the final month of her life. After a courageous 6 day fight from a massive stroke, Betty went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by angels on October 1, 2017 at GracePointe Crossing, East Gables in Cambridge, MN at the age of 83. Betty will be remembered as a loving mother, “Grammy”, great grandmother, sister, aunt, amazing friend and by everyone who knew her as “Grammy”.
Betty is survived by her children: Donald Siems of Milwaukee, WI, Cynthia “Cyndi” Schulz of the Twin Cities; grandchildren Jason (Danelle) Schulz, Daniel (Whitney) Siems, Dustene “Dusty” (Ryan) Greer, Jordan Schulz, JoAna Schulz, Michael (Amy) Siems, Noah Siems; great-grandchildren Triston Schulz, Preston Schulz, Ashton Schulz, Izabella Schulz, Peyton Schulz, Carston Schulz, Gracie Greer, Jaymason Cotton, Lennon Siems, and River Siems.
Also survived by her brother David (Lynn) Moore; sister Marilyn Page and good friend Judy Siems; along with many other family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 50 years Walter Jr, infant daughter SuAn Marie and infant son Walter Robert III; sister Shirley Moore and brother Philip Moore.

Funeral service 11 AM Wednesday Oct 4, 2017 at Common Ground, A United Methodist Community 404 N. Cypress, St. Cambridge, MN.
Visitation 1 hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.
Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
