Obituary of Lester Carlson
Reverend Lester Albert Clemens Carlson, 94, of Waconia and Coon Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2012 at Waconia Good Samaritan Center.
He was born November 23, 1917, on a farm near McLean, Nebraska, the son of Axel W. Carlson and Agnes Theodora Carlson (nee Samuelson).
He served in the Army at Williams Field, Arizona and in Germany during the Battle of the Bulge, in the Timberwolves division.
On June 16, 1948 he was united in marriage to Ruth Evelyn Anderson of Isanti, Minnesota. In 1952 he was ordained into the Holy Ministry of the Augustana Lutheran Church. He served congregations in Port Wing, WS, Chariton, IA, McIntosh and Fertile, MN. He helped serve at Zion Lutheran in Anoka, and there he confirmed Steven and Linda, married Steven and Margaret, Linda and Bradley, and baptized Andrew, David and James.
Four children were born to this union, twin daughters Emily Jean and Helen Ann, Steven and Linda.
He was preceded in death by Ruth, his twin daughters, his brother Cecil, sister Verlyn and his parents.
Lester is survived by his son Steven and wife Margaret Carlson of New York City, NY, daughter Linda and husband Brad Krantz of Victoria, three grandchildren, Andrew and wife Patricia Krantz, David Krantz and James Krantz, as well as other relatives and friends.
