Obituary of Joel L. Wendberg
Joel Lemar Wendberg, age 80, of Dalbo, Minnesota, passed away on November 15, 2017 at GracePointe Crossing West, Cambridge, Minnesota.
Joel was born on November 27, 1936 in Braham, Minnesota to Robert and Blanche (Stonestrom) Wendberg. He grew up in Dalbo, attended grade school in Dalbo and graduated from Cambridge High School. After high school, he became a member of the Navy Reserve for 8 years.
On November 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Janice Lee Quam at Salem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They made their home in Dalbo, where they raised their three children.
He was a long-time member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo where he was a member of the cemetery board. He was also a member of the Dalbo Fire Department and the Dalbo Township Board for 38 years. Joel enjoyed farming, gardening, dancing and country music shows.
Joel worked at the family cheese factory in Dalbo beginning at a young age. He continued working there as it changed hands and when Land O’ Lakes purchased it and built a new cheese factory in Dalbo. He was also employed, for short periods of time, by the Cambridge State Hospital and US Distilled Products in Princeton, Minnesota.
Joel was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, parents and brother Larry Wendberg. He is survived by children Bradley (Victoria) Wendberg, Pamela (Lyle) Erickson and Jason (Aimee) Wendberg; grandchildren Ryan Erickson (fiancee Lisa), Aaron Erickson and Brandon Wendberg; great-granddaughter Addison Erickson; special friend Wanda Anderson and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:30 am at Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo. Visitation to be held from 10 am – 11:30 am at the church. Interment at Dalbo Baptist Cemetery in Dalbo, immediately following the service.
