Obituary of Kirmet H. Dahlgren
Kirmet H. Dahlgren, 89, of Cambridge Minnesota, passed away on December 13, 2017.
Kirmet was born in Strandburg, South Dakota to John and Adina Dahlgren on August 15, 1928. He grew up on a farm near Strandburg and graduated from Strandburg High School in 1946. In 1951, he joined the Army and served in the Korean War as a Morse Code operator until he was honorably discharged in 1953. After discharge from the Army, he married the love of his life, Darlene McNamara, celebrating 64 years of marriage last August! After they were married, Kirmet went to work as a ceramic tile installer in the Minneapolis area. Eventually, he started his own tile company, K-D Tile, where he worked until he retired. In 1996, Kirmet and Darlene moved to Cambridge, MN where they enjoyed many happy years together in retirement. Kirmet loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also loved to fish, spend time at his cabin on Lake Waukenabo, play cards with family and friends, bird watching and doing cross word puzzles. Most of all, he loved telling jokes and making people smile!
Kirmet is preceded in death by his parents John and Adina, sisters Alice Nord, Esther Witbeck, Gladys Shear and brother Herb Dahlgren. He is survived by his wife Darlene; sons Gregory (Lynn) Dahlgren and Timothy (Sandra) Dahlgren; grandchildren Tyler (Amy) Dahlgren, Kelsey (Ted) Gonsior, Henry Dahlgren, Kristen Dahlgren; great grandchildren Lacy Dahlgren, Leah Dahlgren, Charlene Gonsior, Theodore Gonsior and Josephine Gonsior; twin brother Ken Dahlgren and sister Marlys Trippett as well as other relatives and friends.
Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling Cemetery at a later date
