Obituary of Myrtle "Myrt" H. Laase

Myrtle “Myrt” H. Laase, age 95, of Cambridge, MN passed away on January 4, 2018 at Prairie Senior Cottages.  Myrtle was born August 20^th, 1922 in Mankato, MN to Carl and Isla Thorn.  She was baptized, confirmed and attended school in Mankato.

She was united in marriage to John Laase on March 14, 1942 in Inglewood, CA.  In 1946, they moved to a farm west of Cambridge and raised five children.

Myrt was an active farm wife and enjoyed tending her flowers and yard.  She was employed at Control Data Corp in Cambridge from 1964 to 1980.  She was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and active in 4-H, American Heart Assn. drives, Farmers Union and Walbo Ladies Aid.  During her retirement, she volunteered at the Senior Center, church, Meals on Wheels and Relay for Life.  She enjoyed life to the fullest, travelling across the US, Canada and Alaska, playing cards, dancing and celebrating birthdays with her birthday club.

In November 2006, John and Myrt moved to East Terrace Corp in Cambridge.

Myrt is survived by her sons David (Jean), Jerry (Marlene) and Dale (Marcia); daughters Linda DeLoia and Brenda Stiegel;   grandchildren  Casey (Machelle) Laase, Rendy Miller, Corey (Nicky) Laase, Allison (Tim) Johanson, Kimber DeLoia and Tony Miller, LTC Matthew (Jenn) DeLoia, Kristin (Dean) Holm, Daniel Laase, Jason (Kelly) White, Jeff (Ashley) White, Tricia Anderson and Trig (Katherine) Laase; 23 grandchildren; and sister, Doris Jenkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband John; parents; brothers Raymond and Alvin Thorn; and sons-in-law Jim Stiegel and Dr. Gary DeLoia.
