Obituary of Bruce Robert Hanson
Bruce Robert Hanson, 61, of Isanti, Minnesota, passed away on July 4, 2018 after a brave 5 ½ year war with lung cancer.
Bruce was born in Minneapolis to Robert and Della (Ophus) Hanson on April 24, 1957. He attended South High School graduating early in 1974 to enlist in the United States Air Force following in the footsteps of his father and older brother, Wayne. Bruce was stationed at Mt. Laguna Air Force base in California for all four years of his service to our country. While serving, he married his high school sweetheart, Landis Henry on August 30, 1975. Upon completing his service, Bruce would go on to work for the Soo Line Railroad and Southside Family Nurturing Center. When he wasn’t working, you could usually find Bruce in his boat. He loved fishing and spending time up north. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs.
Bruce is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver of 42 years, Landis, daughters Nicole (Nicholas) of Mound, Rebecca (Matthew) of Isanti, and Rachel (Luke) of Princeton, grandchildren (Persephone, Brooke, Carly, Gryphon, and Lincoln), brother Wayne (Norma) of Minneapolis, his 4 dogs (Cody, Frank, Jesse, and Mack), numerous friends and other relatives.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Della, father-in-law Orlando, brother-in-law Howard, nephew Michael and the many dogs he had over the years that touched his heart.
Visitation will be held at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge on Monday, July 9th at 10 AM. Service will be held at 11 AM.
The family invites you to a celebration of Bruce’s life at Sidelines Sports Grill following the service. Burial will be Tuesday, July 10th at 10:15 AM Fort Snelling National Cemetery at Assembly Area #5.
