Obituary of Arnold Groebner
Arnold Joseph "Arnie" Groebner, 79, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at his home.
He was born on March 2, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Joseph and Bernice (Johnson) Groebner. Arnie grew up in St. Paul where he attended grade school and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1951.
On October 12, 1957 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Guetschoff at First Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They raised four children, Joseph, Jeannine, Cheryl and James. They lived in Shoreview from 1957 until 1985 when they moved to Cambridge. Arnie worked at Midway Chevrolet for several years and at Gillespie-Guetschoff Motors in Cambridge. After retiring, Arnie and Dorothy moved to Woodbury in 2002, and in 2009 they moved back to Cambridge.
Arnie enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting with his sons and grandsons, as well as spending time with his family at the lake cabin. He also liked to travel, going on several trips with the family. He was a long time member of the Cambridge, Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Bernice Groebner, daughter Cheryl Saylor, parents-in-law Elmer and Cora Guetschoff. Arnie is survived by his wife Dorothy of Cambridge, children Joseph Groebner of St. Cloud, Jeannine and husband Steve Peterson of Minnetonka, James Groebner of Woodbury, ten grandchildren, sisters Janice and husband Fred Gergen of St. Paul, JoAnn and husband Darrell Taylor of Hugo, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
