I have known Mike aka Spewdog for 20 years thru online gaming. I have grown to know him as a friend. He invited me to stay at his home while on my way home from a bear hunt in Minnesota. While there he showed me his love for astronomy and his awesome telescope. He was proud to show me his wood shop and barn. Since then Spew, KnightShade and I have met several times in the Twin Cities for pizza and I was able to introduce my wife and daughter to Mike. I talked to Mike every week for the past 20 years even if we were not gaming via teamspeak, telephone or text message. I am going to miss his voice on Comms. He always made people feel welcome and was always ready to help. Until we meet in the Garden, rest in peace brother.

I've been friends with Mike aka Spewdog for about 15 years. We all met during the MechWarrior 4 days of online gaming. Over the year's Mike and I became friends along with so many others who's life was touched by Mike. He was a real down to earth person with a great sense of humor. I recently went through some hard times these last couple of years and Mike was always there to make me laugh and give good advice when it was needed. It's going to be hard to log into Team Speak and not see Mike online or to hear his laugh but I know he would want us all to be happy and continue on with our lives.
My heart goes out to Mike's mother as well as all his friends all around the world who got to spend time a great friend !!
Love You Mike and Peace be with you my brother !!

Mike (Almos/Spew),
At the beginning without even knowing you, you made me feel welcome in "The Last Rangers” family. You truly are a model that everyone should follow. It’s been a privilege getting to know you, talking to you and gaming with you. I know for a fact that right now you are lighting up the sky even more with your personality and way of being. It’s been an honor! I’ll see you soon and we will keep on talking and gaming!

Mike, you were such a friend to so many people, to me you were a close friend that I talked to everyday. I saw so many people come into comms, and you made all of them feel special. You cared about people. We also had a chance to play a lot of games together, you got me into LoD on the BBS. But that's what you did, you got people to play a lot of games. You tied things together. Without you here there's a hole in all our lives. You were very special.

Dear Cousin Mike,
It's hard to see you go so soon. Your passing was very unexpected and tragic. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I keep having flashbacks of times that you invited me up for beers and BBQ or an exquisite meal of some kind. You taught me how to make one hell of a beef and pork roast. I guess I learned a lot of my cooking skills " which aren't many" from you. Thanks for passing the torch.
I'm glad we were able to bond through our passion for music and especially metal. You opened some new doors by exposing me to some of your favorite musicians like "Buckethead," "Primus," and "Frank Zappa." You always had a CD for me when I came up to visit and for that I thank you! I will dedicate one of my own musical compositions to you in the future.
I won't forget your Drunken Pumpkin Fests or the time when that bat came swooping out of nowhere and interrupted our drunken shenanigans by dive bombing us in your barn.
I'm sorry I can't make it to your service on Monday but I will be there in spirit. We will also a have a celebration of life for you, "that you'll be hosting at your house" when I come home in a few weeks.
Anyway, it was a pleasure being your cousin and I want you to know you will be remembered and missed.
Later Mikey, may your spirit live on.
Your Cousin Eric

Hello, my name is Fred Williams and I knew your son Mike. I wanted to write to you during this heartbreaking time of loss to convey my feelings. Even though I only knew Mike for about six years, during that time he actually made a profound impact on me and made my life better. I met him while playing online games, and soon started hanging out in a chat program with him and a few other friends. We were little more than simple online gaming friends from different parts of the country at the time, however, I went through a very traumatic experience when my ex upended my entire life, and I went to a very dark place. For whatever reason I got online one night during one of my darkest lows, and Mike was also online late. I explained some of what was happening to me at the time and he stayed up very late to talk to me. Over the next few weeks, He helped me look at things from a different perspective, and really I believe that he assisted in helping me overcome a depression that could have otherwise been life-threatening. Even though his time here on Earth with us is over, I will always feel the impact that he made on my life, and will carry with me for the rest of my days fond memories of Mike. Even though we never got to share a batch of spicy chicken together, I'm glad to have met him even for the short time that I knew him. and I wanted you to know that in a small part, his legacy will always carry on in the many lives that he touched. Mine being only one of them.

Spew(Mike), you and your friends welcomed me into your online group with open arms and treated me with utmost kindness.. I became "part of the family", as you put it. If only you knew how much that meant to me.. It has been an honor knowing you, being your friend, and having the chance to meet the others and play games together. So many great times.
Though I miss you and always will, I'll never forget you Spew, my beloved friend.
Love always,
May

My great online friend, I never expected you to leave us so soon. You kept us strong together as a group and I cannot believe nor understand how you have left us so suddenly. How I would wish for just another weekend of stupid crazy gaming fun with you right now. We had so much to look forward to. Love you beyond belief Mikey,
Miss you so much

Dear Mrs. L.
I was a friend of your son's. I'd been playing online games with him on and off for about 10 years.
We laughed a lot and made good natured fun of each other. I teased him about his occasional grumpiness and he rightfully remarked how I was one to talk. I can't help but smile thinking about it.
We shared recipes: his split pea soup, my wife's lentil stew and my leek tart. We laughed a lot.
He was a good man, a kind man and he was my friend. And I will always remember him.
That's maybe all that's important to say about any of us.
My thoughts are with you.
