Obituary of Jack Hasselfeldt

Jack Rene Hasselfeldt, age 89, passed away on Saturday, September 22, at Grace Pointe Crossing Commons in Cambridge. Jack was born in Mankato, Minnesota, on March 26, 1923, and grew up in Eagle Lake, Minnesota. After graduating from high school, Jack attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He then enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Mariana Islands. Following his military service, Jack worked as an engineer for Northwestern Bell, and he retired in 1981. Jack married Helen Froberg on June 15, 1973, and they made their home in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Jack and Helen enjoyed traveling, visiting many places in the United States and Europe. After retirement, they enjoyed trips to warmer climates, spending winters in Arizona and eventually moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1995. After Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home in August of 2005, Jack and Helen moved to Cambridge to live closer to family. Jack is survived by his brother Nick Hasselfeldt (Marie) of St. Cloud; children Sherry (Terry) Edson of Staples, Lance Hasselfeldt (Beth) of Isanti, and Jeff (Becky) of Longmont, Colorado; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
