Obituary of Clayton Joseph Jendro

Clayton Joseph Jendro, 89, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born March 20, 1929 in Amenia, North Dakota the youngest of six children to Frank and Nora (Anderson) Jendro.  Clayton grew up in the Casselton/Wheatland area of North Dakota, attending country school and graduating from Wheatland High School.  He worked on the Jendro family farm for many years.

He met Marjorie Gerdin and they were married on December 31, 1947 in Moorhead, MN.  They made their home in Wheatland and when the 3 older children were in their teens and the youngest was 3, the family moved to their home west of Cambridge in 1965.  It was there that they would live and raise their children and retire.

Besides the farming, Clayton also worked many years at Dahlman’s in Braham as a welder, service rep, and also a general manager.  He also owned and operated Jendro Trucking from which he would retire.

He enjoyed and was handy at doing everything from automotive and mechanical work, welding, woodworking, cabinet making, yard work and spent many hours in his shop tinkering with things.  He served on the Wheatland School Board, and was a constable for the City of Wheatland.  Clayton enjoyed time with his family and loved his animals.  He didn’t mince words, was a straight forward person and was very caring as well.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie in October 2017, sons Michael and James, grandson Daniel, sisters Ethel Forbes, Gladys McCormick, Betty Lauritsen, and Florence Smith, and brother Frank Jendro Jr.

He is survived by his daughter Lori (Frank) Giampaolo of Spring Lake Park, son David Jendro (Jani Coffin) of Cambridge, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
