Obituary of Gwendolyn Louise Starr

Gwendolyn L. Starr age 77 of Columbia Heights, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Rosewood Senior Living Care Center in Cambridge, MN on August 28, 2018.

Gwen was born on December 14, 1940 to Leo and Rosalind Cashman in Mason City, IA.  Shortly after she was born, her family moved to Northeast Mpls.  She attended Edison High School and graduated in 1958. Following her graduation, she married Joseph Starr and moved to East Peoria, IL.  She raised her two children; James Russell and Gina Marie.  Years later she moved back to Minnesota with her children in 1979 to work for Control Data and finally retiring in 1991 to live in Columbia Heights. Due to failing health, she moved to Cambridge to be close to her daughter until her death.

Gwen is survived by her children James (Debbie) Starr and Gina Empey; grandchildren Mindy (Matt) Schwabenbauer, Nick (Sarah) Empey, Crystal Starr, Amber Starr and Joseph Starr.  Great-grandchildren Levi Chappell, Raelynn Chappell and Ryle Empey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Susan Janiksela.
