Obituary of Dean Harold Johnson
Dean H. Johnson, 77, passed away on December 12, 2018 at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge, Minnesota.
He was born in rural Meeker County and graduated from Litchfield High School. Dean went on to Minnesota School of Business and worked over 30 years in the IT field. After retirement, he remained very active by driving cars for dealer delivery, and morning "coffee" with his friends was a special time for him. Reading the paper from front page to classifieds was a necessary part of his daily routine.
Dean relocated to the Isanti area with his wife, Sharon, in 1963. After having two children, they built their house and made it their home for nearly forty years. He became part of the Cambridge-Isanti community, but often visited the Litchfield area. His visits included his parents and family, as well as attending class reunions and special gatherings as frequently as possible. He enjoyed farming with his friends Merle and Bobby as well as other area residents. He never seemed to tire of harvesting their crops - it brought him relaxation from a stressful job and memories of early years.
Dean's interests were quite varied and included farming, camping, fishing and being involved with his church, which included construction of a new building. Traveling around the state, as well as visiting relatives and places all over the country, was a favorite pastime. He had a google-map built into his head and would meet people along his journeys that he could connect to a relative or another acquaintance. Dean enjoyed music in any form, from concert to simply playing the radio. He was also an avid fan of car racing, football, basketball and baseball - from dirt track to Nascar and from high school to professional sports. He always seemed to be going somewhere or coming back from an adventure.
In 2008, Dean married Wanda. They traveled from coast to coast visiting family and friends, while seeing national parks and points of interest along the way. He enjoyed meeting and being a part of a new family and having new friends. Dean loved scenery and flowers - daffodils and blue irises were his favorite. Springtime was a daily adventure to check the growth of the plants. He also tended to the plants throughout the season.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Duis), parents John and Doris (Oberg) Johnson, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his second wife Wanda M. Anderson; children Roberta (Kevin) Maas and Burton D. Johnson; grandchildren Matthew Putz, Jerry Maas, Melisa Maas, Nicole (Brandon) Houser, Alexis Johnson (fiance Ryan Schley) and Emily (Adam) Meierbachtol; great-granddaughter Morgan Blair; sisters Shirley (Don) Rick, Bonnie Thompson and Marlene (Gary) Wilder; brother Lee Johnson; special daughters with their families; and extended family, friends and acquaintances. Dean is also survived by his many stories.
Dean will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
