Donald Lloyd Persen, age 82, of Cambridge, passed away on December 19, 2018 in Cambridge, Minnesota.

Don was born in Duluth to Albert and Eva Persen on November 29, 1936.  He graduated from Denfield High School in Duluth, then served in the Army in France from 1958-1961.  Don met Marilyn Hermanson in Sunday school when they were 5 and 6 years old and they grew up together in the church, including being baptized together.  On June 8, 1963, Don and Marilyn were married at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Duluth. During their 55 years of marriage, they raised 3 children and were foster parents to over 100 infants and children.  Don was involved in church and over the years served as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, Brigade leader, usher and trustee. He also was the treasurer of their condo association for a time.

He worked as a surveyor to bring the natural gas pipeline from North Dakota to Duluth, and surveyed the location for the construction of the high bridge from Duluth to Superior, Wisconsin.  Don then worked as a meat cutter for SuperValu for 30 years.

Don loved to tell jokes!  He also shared the need for Jesus in your life, faithfully read his Bible and prayed for each of his family members daily, sketched pencil drawings and painted pictures using acrylics on canvas and glass of landscapes and birds.

HeDon is preceded in death by his parents and siblings John Persen, Evelyn Carter, Margaret Post and Kenneth Persen.

Don is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children Cheryl (Joe) Morin, Steven (Sherri) Persen and Susan (Trent) Olson; grandchildren Jill (Jonathan) Kast, Daniel (Rachel) Morin, Caitlin (Dillon) Pierson, Michael Persen, Chelsea Olson, Elyssa Olson and Brittany Olson; great-grandchildren Peyton, Kendall and Silas Pierson; brother-in-law Wilbur Reichel; sister-in-law Lorraine Persen; and many nieces and nephews.
