Obituary of Myrtle Johnson

Myrtle F. Johnson, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East. She was born on December 7, 1918 in Stark, Minnesota to Frank and Bertha (Noyde) Peterson. Myrtle spent her early years in Stark and attended country school. The family would move to Cambridge and she went on to graduate from Cambridge High School. She was united in marriage to Maynard Johnson in Blair, Nebraska. They had one son Robert, making their home near Isanti for several years before moving to Cambridge. Myrtle worked many years in different grocery stores including Fairway Grocery in Cambridge, Orley's Grocery in Isanti, and Cambridge Super Valu. After Myrtle and Maynard retired, they moved to Tucson, Arizona in August 1976, and Maynard died unexpectedly in December of that year. Myrtle remained in Arizona for nine years before returning to Cambridge. She lived for one year at her condominium on Dellwood before moving to Ashland Place in 1986. The past three years she was a resident at GracePointe Crossing Gables East. Myrtle enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzle books, reading, going to the casinos, and took trips to Las Vegas when she lived in Tucson. She also traveled with friends in the Good Sam's RV Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maynard, sisters Evelyn Erickson, Mildred Peterson and brother Roy Peterson. Myrtle is survived by her son Robert and wife Paulette Johnson of Cambridge, four grandchildren Brenda (Gary) Lillion, Brian (Suzanne) Johnson, Brad (Shawn) Johnson all of Cambridge, Bridget (Wade) Isaacson of Monticello, seven great grandchildren Joe Lillion, Megan Lillion, Jordan Stromberg, Josh Johnson, Leah Johnson, Nathan and Ben Isaacson, two great great grandsons Leon and Landry Stromberg, sister Violet and husband Marvin Hancock of Cambridge, as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
