Obituary of Violet Ruby Hancock
Violet R. Hancock (nee Peterson) passed away on January 21, 2019 at 8:50 AM at Cambridge Medical Center, with her daughters by her side. Her parents were Frank and Bertha (nee Noyed) Peterson. She was born in Isanti county on January 7, 1929. Violet was baptized at Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark; confirmed at Cambridge Lutheran Church and attended church at Calvary Lutheran in Rush Point for many years. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1947.
Violet married Marvin “Bud” Hancock on August 21, 1951. In 1954 they purchased a farm east of Grandy, MN and lived there for 56 years and raised their 2 children. They sold the farm to a granddaughter and moved to Cambridge. She worked at the General Motors dealer, Gillespie Auto and Pete Iten Auto for 40 years. Violet enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. She was a long-time member of Braham Moose Lodge Auxiliary.
Violet is survived by her daughters Susan (Kim Smith) Hancock and Carol House. Grandmother of: Donna (Michael) Lundell, Erick (Kristi) Broberg and Cole House; Great-Grandmother of: Natilie and Adem Chapman, Marvin and William Lundell, Rorrick Broberg and a new great-granddaughter due in May. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Mary Hancock and Kay (Hilderd) Pierson, special family friends Bill Broberg and Ray (Jane) Jensen and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin; sisters, Evelyn Erickson, Myrtle Johnson, Mildred Peterson; brother Roy Peterson.
Memorial service 11AM, Saturday February 2, 2019 at Calvary Lutheran Church at Rush Point, 600 Rush Point Dr., Stanchfield, MN. Visitation 1 hour prior to service at the church. Interment at Cambridge Union Cemetery, Cambridge, MN. Memorials preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church.
