Obituary of Carol Ann Fluguear
Carol Ann Fluguear, 77, of Princeton, formerly of Cambridge passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at University of Minnesota Hospital.
She was born on March 24, 1941 in Clearbrook, Minnesota to Ervin and Ruth (Brinkman) Moen. Carol grew up in the Fosston area and lived in Northwood, North Dakota where she graduated from high school.
Carol married Robert Aamold in Portland-Mayville, North Dakota and had three boys Barry, Mike and Brian. Robert worked construction so the family lived in a number of areas including Buffalo, Rock Springs and Wheatland, WY. Carol and Robert divorced and Carol took the kids and moved to Minneapolis to live in 1966.
Carol would meet William Fluguear on a blind date and it was love at first sight and they soon married on June 21, 1968 in Brookings, South Dakota. They made their home in the West Point area of Cambridge and raised the three boys there.
Carol worked for many years at the Cambridge Star and in 2000 after Bill retired, Carol also decided to retire and said it was the best thing she ever did. She and Bill sold their home to son Brian and purchased a motor home to travel around the south and southwest of the country until settling in the Georgetown area of Texas. Their summers were spent in MN on beautiful Rose Lake near Frazee, MN. Bill passed away on July 2010 and Carol spent a couple years between Texas, with son Mike, and on Rose Lake. The past six years she lived in the peaceful town of Princeton.
Carol was a member of New Life Church, volunteered at Pathways in Princeton, in the schools, worked at the food shelves, and was a longtime blood donor – very proud of her gallon pins! She enjoyed her coffee club, doing needlepoint, jigsaw puzzles, traveling to Mexico with her sister Sue, an Alaska cruise, and most recently to the Appalachians with her son Mike and granddaughter Megan. She also looked forward to the mystery trips with groups of friends, and the occasional margarita(s) with her grandkids.
Carol was very active, walking 4-5 miles a day, yoga classes, swimming, and even had a personal weight training coach. She enjoyed working in a garden, but most of all being with her special friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Fluguear, son Brian Aamold, brother Jerry Moen, and sister Phyllis Mattson. Carol is survived by her sons Barry (Julie) Aamold of Milaca, Mike (Donna) Aamold of Bowie, MD, five grandchildren Lisa (Chuck) Daly, Christina Aamold (Will), Megan Aamold, Robert (Nikki) Aamold, and Katie Aamold, two great grandchildren Kaden and Josh Daly, sisters Janice Brown of Braham, Susie Cogswell of Fridley, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, March 2, 2019 at New Life Church in Princeton. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at a later date in North Isanti Baptist Cemetery.
