Obituary of Janice Irene Reed

    Janice Irene Reed, 71, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at her home.

    She was born on July 23, 1947 in Morris, Minnesota to Vernon and Florence (nee Onnen) Kruize.  She grew up in Donnelly, MN and attended school in Morris, graduating from Morris High School in 1965.  After high school, she worked at Fingerhut for a time before working in the office of a trucking company.  She also worked at Thermo Serv in Anoka and drove for Care Cab from which she retired in 2012. 

    On May 23, 1970, she was united in marriage to Fred Reed in Cambridge.  They lived in Columbia Heights before moving to East Bethel where they raised their two children, Michelle and Jason.  For the past seven years, they lived in Cambridge.

    Janice was a member of the Auxiliary Vietnam Veterans of America.  She liked to sew and do needlepoint, and enjoyed camping with her family at Big Sandy Lake.  She made trips to the Black Hills and recently made a trip to Phoenix, Maryland to attend the 9^th Infantry Division of Vietnam Vets Reunion, with Fred.  Janice thoroughly enjoyed watching her “little pride and joy” Nicolle perform in plays, speech tournaments, band and choir.

    She was preceded in death by her mother and nephew and godson Kurt Kruize in 2010.  Janice is survived by her husband Fred, children Michelle (Curt) Ulrich and Jason Reed all of Cambridge, granddaughter Nicolle Ulrich of Dinkytown, father Vernon Kruize of Donnelly, brothers Lyle (Bev) Kruize of Hancock, MN and Dave (Nancy) Kruize of Morris, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

     A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Cambridge Lutheran Church.  Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment at a later date at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls.
