Obituary of Gene Ronald Grams
Gene Ronald Grams, 83, of Cambridge, formerly of Crown passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at his home at GracePointe Crossing.
Gene was born March 27, 1935 to Edwin and Alice (Stoeckel) Grams in Isanti County. He was baptized, confirmed and attended school at Zion Lutheran Church - Crown, MN. Gene graduated from St. Francis High School in 1953 where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and served as a medic for the 7th Infantry Headquarters Division in Korea.
In 1960 he married Judy Rudquist from Princeton, MN and raised a family of 3 girls. Gene’s work included Clover Leaf, Foley Manufacturing, cutting meat and retiring from St Francis School District as head custodian. Gene greatly enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, snowmobiling and playing baseball with the “Crown Fireballs”.
In 2018 Gene and Judy moved from their Crown home of 51 years to GracePointe Community Senior Apartments in Cambridge, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Alice Grams, Baby Boy Grams (Born/Died April 4, 1961), brother Marlyn Grams and sister Deloris Mayland.
Gene is survived by his wife Judy Grams, daughters Jodi Barten of Alexandria, Vicki Morton of Moundsview, Teri Grams of Cambridge, three grandchildren Eric (Nateal) Barten of Stacy, Dean Barten of Crown, Shelbi Morton of Mankato, brothers Roger (Vera) Grams of Mora, Bernie (Jan) Grams of Burnsville, sisters Val Jean Grams of Circle Pines, Connie (Russ) Benson of Andover, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church of Crown with Rev. Jacob Dandy officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors by the Zimmerman American Legion immediately following the service. Interment in the Spring in the church cemetery.
