Obituary of Ruth Elizabeth Michael
Ruth E. Michael (nee Anderson) age 88 of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2019 at North Memorial Hospital.
Ruth was born September 8, 1930 to John and Augusta Anderson.
She attended Karmel grade school and then went to Cambridge High School, graduating in 1948. After graduation, she worked at Pillsbury in the Twin Cities in the accounting department.
In 1956 she met the love of her life “Hank”, after a whirlwind courtship that included Ruth going to Sweden, Ruth married Hank on May 18, 1957 at Karmel Covenant Church in Princeton. They made their home in Milaca for 8 years before moving to Crystal, MN where they lived until 2000, moving to Blaine for 17 years, finally retiring to Cambridge to relax.
During all those years, Ruth and Hank raised 4 children: Darlene, Dan, Cheryl and Cathy. They enjoyed camping at Springvale campground for 27 years. Great friendships and many happy memories were shared there. She was known at the campground for her Blueberry pies and always having a pot of coffee ready.
Ruth and Hank travelled to Sweden twice to visit her family and friends. They also visited 5 other countries in Europe. For their 50th wedding anniversary they went on an Alaskan Cruise with their family and friends. They had a wonderous time.
Ruth dedicated her life as a humble servant of God, her precious family and countless others.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Henry “ Hank”; children Darlene (Andy) Clark, Dan Michael, Cheryl (Tom) Johnson, Cathy (Geoff) Pierce.
Grandmother to: Nicole (Mike) Barnett, Terri (Mike) Calley, Randy Clark, Danielle Michael( Cody Keeble), Jonathan Michael, Allan Ewing, Elizabeth “Liz” Ewing, Sarah (Kyle) Abendroth, Josh (Amy) Pierce, Carrie (Trevor) Backmann and Heather Pierce.
Great-grandmother of: Annmarie Barnett, Brook, Paige, and Abigail Calley. Piper Keeble, Caleb and Briella Abendroth, Naia Pierce, Kylie and Raelynn Backmann and one great-grandson on the way.
Also survived by her sisters; Ellen Niznik, Evie (Neil) Danielson, brothers; David (Joyce) Anderson and Carl (Phyllis) Anderson and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lilly (Alton) Dahl; brother Raymond Anderson, brother-in-law Bob Niznik and nephew Joel Dahl.
Funeral Service 12 Noon Thursday March 7, 2019 at Karmel Covenant Church 5799 Cty Rd 6 NW Princeton.
Visitation 2 hours prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Interment at Karmel Covenant parish cemetery.
